We collect the following information to provide you with the Cercle experience:
What We Don't Collect: We do not collect or store your location data, contact lists, browsing history, or any other information beyond what's necessary for the Cercle app to function.
Your data is used exclusively to:
We will never: Sell your data to third parties, share your emotional information with advertisers, use your data for marketing purposes outside Cercle, or disclose your moods without your explicit permission settings.
You maintain complete control over who sees your mood logs. When you create a mood entry, you choose one of three visibility levels:
Private Moods: Mood entries marked as "Only Me" are stored securely and are never visible to other users.
You can change visibility settings anytime, and past mood entries can be deleted at any time.
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data:
While we implement robust security, no system is 100% secure. Please use a strong, unique password for maximum protection.
While Your Account is Active: All your mood logs, mood notes, and connection data are retained as long as your account exists.
After Account Deletion: Once you delete your account, we permanently delete all associated data within 30 days. Backups containing your data are securely destroyed.
Data Export: You can request and download a complete export of your Cercle data at any time through your account settings.
Cercle uses the following third-party services to operate:
What We Don't Use: We do not use Google Analytics, advertising SDKs, data brokers, or any other third-party services that track your behavior or collect data about your app usage for advertising purposes.
Cercle offers an optional SMS text messaging feature that lets you log moods and check on friends by texting our Cercle phone number.
You opt in to SMS messaging by voluntarily entering your phone number in the Cercle app (during profile setup or in your profile settings). By providing your phone number and saving your profile, you expressly consent to receive SMS messages from Cercle in response to texts you send us. You will never receive unsolicited messages — Cercle only replies to texts you initiate.
Messages include mood logging confirmations and friend mood check-in responses. Message frequency depends entirely on how often you text Cercle — you control the conversation. Cercle does not send promotional, marketing, or bulk messages.
You can opt out of SMS messaging at any time by:

Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan. Cercle does not charge for SMS messaging, but your carrier may.
Your phone number is stored securely and used solely to identify your account when you text Cercle. We do not sell, share, or disclose your phone number to third parties for marketing purposes. Phone numbers are processed through Twilio, our SMS service provider, subject to Twilio's Privacy Policy.

Cercle is not intended for children under 13 years old. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we've inadvertently collected data from a child under 13, we will delete that information immediately.
Parents or guardians who believe their child has provided information to Cercle should contact us immediately at privacy@cercle.me.

Important: Cercle is a wellness and mood-sharing application, not a substitute for professional mental health care. The wellness suggestions provided by Cercle are general in nature and should not be considered medical or mental health advice.
If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please contact a mental health professional, call a crisis helpline, or go to your nearest emergency room. Cercle cannot and should not be relied upon for emergency mental health support.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. When we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you via an in-app notification.
Your continued use of Cercle after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated privacy policy. We encourage you to review this policy regularly.
